Ever since online testing started, major exam boards like the College Board, LSAC, and ETS have tightened up proctoring. They frequently change proctoring software, strictly monitor test-takers, and cancel suspicious scores. This makes proxy testing or cheating on exams like the GRE and LSAT much harder. However, specialized services still offer workarounds. Here is a breakdown of the methods currently available.
1. GRE
The GRE currently has the highest score success rate. Even though ETS requires a dual-camera setup that tracks your hands and screen, there are still ways to bypass it:
- Advanced Remote Assistance: Software is installed on your computer before the test. You can read answers directly off your screen during the exam without moving your eyes unnaturally. The system runs deep code to hide from proctoring software and prevent flags, logouts, or score cancellations.
- In-Person Physical Methods: You take the test at a designated location where staff help you complete the exam using concealed physical tools without using remote software or USB drives.
- Full Proxy (Test-Taker In-Person): Hiring someone to physically take the GRE at a test center for you is rare due to high costs and risks.
2. TOEFL
TOEFL options cover both home and test-center setups. Most cheating methods require you to have basic speaking skills, as score guarantees rarely cover the Speaking section:
- Home Test (Leaked Questions): The agency gets the test questions ahead of time so you can memorize the answers. Speaking questions can still be random.
- Home Test (Remote Software): Advanced software runs quietly in the background without invading or triggering the proctoring system. Cheap software often leads to immediate exam bans.
- Test Center (Full Proxy): Someone enters the test center with a forged ID to take the exam for you. If the test-taker gets caught on one exam, all previous tests they took for others will be flagged.
- Test Center (Inside Help): You complete registration at the center, but internal staff handle the actual test for you. This is extremely expensive and risky.
3. GMAT
Remote cheating on the online GMAT has a very low success rate. Most people opt for physical, in-person assistance at a designated facility or hire a proxy test-taker at a test center.
4. SAT
Since the SAT went fully digital, most cheating methods rely on remote assistance during online tests. Breaking through the SAT proctoring system is difficult, so advanced tools are required. Leaked question methods rarely work because the College Board changes questions constantly.
5. LSAT
LSAT options are shrinking as most test-takers are now required to test in person. Online proxy testing still uses remote software, but in-person cheating options carry extremely high risks.
6. AP Exams
Getting a top score on AP exams mainly relies on getting leaked questions and answer keys before test day.
7. IELTS
Since IELTS canceled all paper-based tests, leaked-question methods no longer work. Options are now limited to hiring a proxy test-taker in person or using remote software for online versions.
8. Duolingo English Test (DET)
Duolingo uses remote proctoring, so proxy methods rely on remote software. DET has become extremely hard to pass using proxy services. Scores are frequently canceled due to suspected pre-memorized speaking answers or off-screen eye movements.
